Professor killed in three-vehicle accident

    GUA MUSANG: Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) lecturer Prof Dr Mohamad Suhaily Yusri Che Ngah, 42, was killed in a road crash at KM13.5 of Jalan Gua Musang-Kuala Krai here yesterday.
    The crash occurred at 8.45pm while Mohamad Suhaily, who was at the wheel of a Perodua Myvi, was on his way from here to Kampung Lak Loh, Kuala Krai, to make preparations for the handing over ceremony of 11 houses for flood victims by Kelantan Umno liaison chairman Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed today (Oct 9).
    Three people were injured in the crash which also involved a Toyota Hilux for-wheel-drive vehicle and a Proton Saga car.
    Mohamad Suhaily, who was UPSI ResQ Disaster Committee chairman, sustained serious head and bodily injuries and died on the spot in the crash. He was from Kampung Wakaf Bunut, Limbongan, in Pasir Puteh, Kelantan.
    The injured were UPSI student S. Mathiswrman, 19, who was a passenger in the Myvi car, Toyota Hilux driver Abdullah Salleh, 51, and his passenger, Liza Haryati Abu Bakar, 38.
    Liza Haryati's two sons – Nik Mohammad Adam Nik Mohamad Sharifuddin, nine, and younger brother, Nik Mohammad Adeeb, four – and the driver of the Proton Saga, Mohamad Izuadin, 21, and his three passengers escaped injury in the crash.
    Gua Musang district police chief Supt Saiful Bahri Abdullah, when contacted, confirmed the accident.
    Mohamad Suhaily's body was sent to Gua Musang Hospital for post mortem and was claimed by family members early today for burial in his village in Pasir Puteh. – Bernama
