PARIS Fashion Week has us all excited about the new hair trends that we'll be trying out for Spring/Summer 2016. The vibe on the catwalks was decidedly low-key, with a focus on texture and length.
The undeniable top trend was for natural-looking, soft and insouciant hair. Worn loose around the shoulders, the style was a little tousled, a little flyaway and a little 'undone' for a pretty and feminine finish.
It was a look championed by countless designers, including Chloé, where brushed-out blow-dries seemed to have provided inspiration, and John Galliano, where the effect was light and wispy.
Paul & Joe, Véronique Branquinho, Hermès and Alexis Mabille also adopted a similar approach, with varying degrees of curl and shine. All in all, this trend is great news for natural bedheads as it requires very little actual work to recreate.
A slightly slicker trend was the return of the ponytail, which was given a glossy and grown-up makeover at Balmain, where it worn pulled back tight and high on the crown and held in place with a hair extension tie for a racy look.
At Loewe, the ponytails were worn low and a little ruffled and tomboy textured, while the look was sweet and angelic at Christian Dior, sweeping in front of the ears and held loosely back with shreds of ribbon.
And finally there were braids. The surprise trend of the Paris shows was seen at Louis Vuitton, where miniature plaits were woven into the hair, giving models a doll-like look.
Manish Arora put a more conceptual spin on the trend, using hair extensions to create fairy-tale braids that hung over the face. – AFP Relaxnews
