CYBERJAYA: Talent Corporation Malaysia (TalentCorp) and JobStreet.com exchanged a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) today to officiate a collaboration on TalentCorp's Industry Engagement Zone or Ind-E-Zone initiative, which aims to better prepare students for the job search process.
The MOU exchange ceremony took place at the Malaysian Global Innovation & Creativity Centre (MaGIC) Auditorium in Cyberjaya. The event was graced by Assoc Prof Dr. Arham Abdullah, director of Industry Relations Division, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education (MOE) and drew in representatives from 11 universities.
As part of measures driven by TalentCorp to enhance graduate employability, Ind-E-Zone brings together universities and leading employers to enhance career services at public universities by providing students greater awareness of career opportunities arising from the Economic Transformation Programme (ETP).
Designed to be a dedicated area within university campuses, Ind-E-Zone is a one-stop career information centre which connects students to industry-relevant content and educates them on internship and career opportunities within Malaysia's key industries. The centre also offers a range of activities such as industry engagements, networking sessions, career talks (C-Talks) and sharing sessions.
As one of Asia's leading online employment marketplaces, JobStreet.com is well positioned to facilitate the matching and communication of job opportunities between jobseekers and employers. Through this collaboration, JobStreet.com will work together with TalentCorp to enhance Ind-E-Zone activities, including the Student Ambassador Programme, Internship Market Day, and University Career Talk to open up various platforms for our young talent, especially university students and graduates to connect with the opportunities and information they need to chart their professional development.
"We're confident this partnership with JobStreet.com will enhance Ind-E-Zone centres around Malaysia to provide more industry-relevant and up-to-date content and engagement to help Malaysian university students get ready for the working world," said Johan Mahmood Merican, CEO of TalentCorp.
TalentCorp introduced the Industry Engagement Zone, or Ind-E-Zone to bridge the gap between employers and universities. The first Ind-E-Zone was established in Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia in November 2014. By the end of this year, there will be in total 11 Ind-E-Zones established at public universities throughout Malaysia. The selected IPTAs are Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia (UPNM), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI), Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UMP), Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), Universiti Malaya (UM), Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) and Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK).
"Through Ind-E-Zone, we hope to combine the strengths of both TalentCorp and JobStreet.com to gear up students for career opportunities and ultimately develop a stronger workforce in line with Malaysia's Vision 2020," said Chook Yuh Yng, country manager of JobStreet.com. — Bernama
