Stranded hikers at Sungai Chiling rescued by firemen

    KUALA LUMPUR: Fourteen local youths who were stranded in a water surge at Sungai Chiling, Kuala Kubu Baru near here last night were finally rescued early today.
    They were among 21 victims in their 20s, comprising 17 men and four women, who were reported to have been on a hill hiking activity in the area.
    Seven others, comprising Pakistanis were earlier rescued at 10.45pm last night.
    Kuala Kubu Baru Fire and Rescue assistant superintendent Kamil Hamadan said the 14 victims were located at the riverbank near Lintasan 6 by a team of 19 firemen at 1am.
    He said they were brought down to the Sungai Chiling fire and rescue control post around 2am.
    The case was subsequently handed over to police for further action, he added. – Bernama
