Woman, son burnt to death in fire

KOTA KINABALU: A woman and her son were burnt to death when a fire destroyed their house in Tuaran early today.
Firemen found the charred remains of Baitin @ Fauziah Bitin, 48, and Habiburahman Azhari, eight, on the floor of the house in Kampung Batangan at 1.15am.
Tuaran police chief DSP Abdul Fuad Abdul Malik said the fire was spotted by the victim's husband who woke up to find thick smoke billowing from the top floor.
He said Azahari Amat, also 48, tried to wake up his wife who was asleep in the bedroom on the top floor but failed as the fire spread fast.
He said the remains of the woman and her son were sent to the Tuaran Hospital.
Also destroyed in the blaze were a motorcycle and two vehicles, including a four-wheel drive. – Bernama
