PETALING JAYA: Police have arrested an Islamic medical practitioner who allegedly molested a woman who sought treatment from him.
The man, described to be an "ustaz" in his 60s, was arrested in Batu Kikir, Negri Sembilan, following a police report lodged by the victim's brother.
Jempol district police chief Superintendent Hamzah Alias said the victim, in her 30s, was said to be experiencing "mystical disturbances", soon after giving birth to a child.
Her brother and father subsequently brought her to meet the suspect to seek medical treatment, Berita Harian reported today.
The suspect was believed to have wrapped his finger with betel leaves and inserted it into the victim's genitals a total of ten times 'to cleanse her womb'.
"The suspect had also asked the victim to stare into his eyes and recorded her image allegedly for medical purposes," Hamzah said.
Hamzah said the victim subsequently complained to her mother of pain in her private parts and said the suspect had sent lewd messages and images to her via WhatsApp.
The victim had sought treatment from the suspect on four occasions before the alleged incident took place.
During the fifth treatment session, the suspect asked the victim to don a batik cloth before allegedly molesting her.
The case is being investigated under Section 354 of the Penal Code, which deals with assault or use of criminal force with intent to outrage modesty.
