Elderly woman found dead in Cheras apartment

    PETALING JAYA: A 63-year-old woman was found dead in her living room at Sri Penara apartment in Bandar Permaisuri, Cheras today.
    Kuala Lumpur CID chief SAC Datuk Zainuddin Ahmad said police also detained two suspects, aged 25 and 22, believed to be close relatives of the deceased at the scene.
    In the 3pm incident, Zainuddin said police received a distress call that there was water flowing from the main door of the victim's house.
    "We rushed to the scene and upon arrival, the main door was locked.
    "A team from the Fire and Rescue department came and broke the main door before we found the body," Zainuddin said.
    He added that the victim was pronounced dead by a medical officer from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Hospital (HUKM).
    "Checks found that the victim suffered injuries and bruises on both sides of her eyes and mouth, swollen lips and head, and was bleeding through her nose and mouth," he added.
    Zainuddin said the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder and the body was taken to HUKM mortuary for a post-mortem.
