MUAR: A suspect in the murder of a religious school clerk in Taman Setia Kasih Sungai Terap, Bukit Pasir, last Monday, will be in remand for seven days from today.
Muar district police chief ACP Azman Ayob said police had obtained an order to remand the suspect until Nov 27.

The 30-year-old suspect, who is a government employee and the victim's neighbour, was detained about 6pm yesterday.

The man, who is married and has two children, was detained after failing to give a satisfactory statement to the police during investigation.

According to media reports, the body of religious school clerk, Nurul Shahira Mohamed Yatim, 29, was found lying with strangle marks on her neck in front of the door of the master bedroom of her home in Taman Setia Kasih, on Monday.

Her body was found by neighbours who became suspicious and went to look for her after realising the engine of her Honda Civic car was left running for hours since 2pm with the driver's door open and the door to her house was also left open. — Bernama
