Johor Port gets ISO certification for QMS expansion

    PETALING JAYA: Johor Port Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of MMC Corp Bhd has been awarded an international organisation standardisation (ISO) certification for quality management system expansion of scope covering port operations by Standards and Industrial Research Institute of Malaysia (Sirim).
    In a statement yesterday, MMC Corp said Johor Port's achievement in obtaining the certification by Sirim is a stepping stone for them to be the "first multi-purpose port in Malaysia" to obtain this certification.
    "The certification shows that Johor Port practices the international standards in their field of speciality as specified by the ISO. It serves as a benchmark to position Johor Port's standard with other ports around the world," it added.
    The ISO certification was presented by Sirim's managing director Khalidah Mustafa to Johor Corp's CEO Shahrull Allam Shah Abdul Halim and witnessed by MMC Corp's group mananging director Datuk Sri Che Khalib at the certification ceremony in Johor.
    Speaking at the event, Che Khalib said that Johor Port's achievement in obtaining the ISO certification is a testament of its employees determination and dedication to grow and serve the customers better.
    Following the success of the certification, Johor Port is preparing to pursue the ISO 55001:2014 on asset management to provide a structured and best practice approach to manage its assets.
    Over the years, MMC Corp evolved to be the country's leading utilities and infrastructure group with diversified businesses under three core divisions, namely ports and logistics, energy and utilities, as well as engineering and construction.
