KUALA LUMPUR: Finance Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak has denied that the Retirement Fund Incorporated (KWAP) has investments in Mongolia.
In a written reply to Datuk Johari Abdul (PKR–Sungai Petani), the prime minister, stated the fund's domestic and international investments from 2010 to 2015 stood at RM39.05 billion in equity.
He added that KWAP had RM29.1 billion in government securities and RM29.32 billion in loans and private debt securities.
"As of Sept 30, 2015, KWAP has no investments in Mongolia," Najib said in the reply.
The opposition had previously raised the issue of RM4 billion loan from KWAP given to 1Malaysia Development Berhad's (1MDB) former subsidiary, SRC International, which was initially meant to purchase a mining company in Mongolia.
Meanwhile, the government has denied making any purchase of spying equipment from an Italian-based company.
"There is no procurement of such equipment made by the Prime Minister's Office," Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said said, despite reports of Malaysia being among countries getting the service from the information technology company Hacking Team for the spying tools.
Azalina said this in a written reply to Tian Chua (PKR–Batu) who had wanted to know if the government had made such a purchase from an Italian company in 2014.
