NIBONG TEBAL: A man drove away with a superbike worth RM80,000 on the pretext of test driving it at a motocycle shop in Taman Jawi Jaya here.
In the 4.30pm incident yesterday, the suspect made off with the white colour Honda CBR 1000RR motorcycle after expressing interest to buy it.
The 52-year-old shop owner said at first he did not allow the suspect to take the vehicle out for a test drive as it was raining.
"He told me that he just wanted to test the superbike around the shop area in Taman Jawi, so I agreed," he told reporters here.
The shop owner said he assigned a staff to follow the suspect as he was afraid the superbike might run out of fuel.
However soon after the staff returned and said the suspect had fled.
Southern Seberang Perai District police chief Supt Wan Hassan Wan Ahmad said the case would be investigated under Section 42 of the Penal Code.
