SHAH ALAM: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) will continue to oppose the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPPA) that is expected to be debated next year.
Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail (pix) said PKR will defend the country's economic sovereignty, by demanding that both the federal Constitution and laws not to be handed to a foreign judgement body that consists of corporate representatives given powers through the Investment Dispute Settlement.
"The party will continue in its fight at the national, state and division levels. This is to ensure the rakyat's importance rather than an individual's," she said.
She was speaking to a capacity crowd consisting of PKR members and those from Parti Amanah Rakyat, DAP and PAS.
On a separate note, she highlighted seven agendas at the party level which includes, among others:
» the President's message programme that is meant to remind members the basis of the party's fight, as stated in the Permatang Pauh declaration.
» strengthening the party's programme – a KPI system will be launched next year to gauge the President's message. This is to ensure they become stronger in their fight and stay disciplined
» a roadmap programme under the General Election department which is meant to beef up the registration of voters and to focus for both the Sarawak state election next year and the 14th General Election.
