Pahang police volunteer killed in lorry-car accident

    KUANTAN: A police volunteer reserve who had just completed his shift at the Baserah police station was killed after the car he was driving was crushed by a lorry that went out of control.

    State traffic police chief, DSP Ahmad Nadzri Zainal said the victim Muhammad Rizal Ramly, 37, of FELDA Neram 1, Kemaman died at the scene from severe head and body injuries.

    The lorry driver Mohd Shah Abu Bakar, 51, of Kulaijaya, Johor and lorry attendant Fazlan Abd Kadir, 42, of FELDA Air Tawar 4, Kota Tinggi Johor were injured. They were treated at Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital in the 6.15am incident at Jalan Kuantan-Kuantan Port.

    "Initial investigations found the incident took place when the lorry, which was heading towards Aspa Cottage roundabout from town, lost control and was overturning when it crushed onto the victim's car travelling on the left lane," he said here, today.

    Ahmad Nadzri added that firemen took more than 30 minutes to remove the lorry and extricate the victim trapped in the car.
    Meanwhile in KUALA LUMPUR, two men were killed after a cement lorry they were travelling in lost control and skidded at Jalan 5 Chan Sow Lin, here early this morning.

    The victims, Nasarun Lajahmurah, 31, and Ahmad Syazwan Mustafa, 27, died at the scene of the accident.

    Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Legal staff officer DSP S. Markandan said the incident occurred at about 2am when both victims were on their way from Jalan Chan Sow Lin towards Jalan Tun Razak.

    "The lorry driven by Nasarun had hit the road divider and lamp post before the vehicle overturned. The incident caused Nasarun to be thrown out of the lorry while Ahmad Syazwan was trapped in the seat," he said when contacted by Bernama today.

    He said the victims' bodies were sent to Kuala Lumpur Hospital for post-mortem. — Bernama
