SHAH ALAM: Police have crippled a house break-in gang with the arrest of four people, including an Indonesian woman, and have solved 10 such cases here.
Shah Alam police chief ACP Shafien Mamat said the gang, dubbed "Geeva Rimba Jaya" has been involved in house break-ins and vehicle thefts for the past three months.
He added police also seized several items including motorcycle frames worth RM50,000.
Shafien said on Nov 11, police arrested a 26-year-old gang member at a construction site at Section 16 here and following this, they nabbed another suspect, aged 18, the following day.
The arrests led police to a flat where they seized 12 motorcycle frames with the parts dismantled to be sold.
"Their modus operandi is to break into a house to steal a motorcycle. Checks on the motorcycles showed they were reported stolen in the vicinity of Shah Alam.
"Later, we arrested another man, aged 21, and an Indonesian woman, 39, believed to have kept the remaining stolen items including several mobile phones," he told a press conference at Shah Alam police headquarters today.
He said the three men have past criminal records relating to drug offences and other criminal activities.
