KUALA LUMPUR: The Search and Rescue (SAR) team recovered a body about 10.30am today, believed to be one of the three children reported missing in Sungai Kuyoh near the Sungai Besi Army Camp yesterday.
However, the identity of the child is yet to be determined.
As of today, 11 soldiers joined the search for three children who were swept away while fishing in Sungai Kuyoh near the Sungai Besi Army Camp here yesterday.
According to Bernama, the soldiers, based at the army camp, joined the search team at about 9am and were looking for the children at a rubbish trap near the hockey stadium in Bukit Jalil, said Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue assistant director (operations) Azizan Ismail.
The children, Remy Julian Raymond Joe, 14, Joe Jerry, 12, and Josnual Usin, 9, were among eight children who had gone to fish at the river when they were swept away at about 5.30pm.
Four of them fell into the river earlier but one was saved by others before he could be swept away by the current.
One of the fathers said he was on duty at the camp when a friend called and informed him about the incident. The father was told that two of his children have left the house to go to the river without the permission of his wife.
However, one of his children,13, was saved by other kids while his 12-year-old son was still missing.
Meanwhile, Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department chief operations officer Samsol Maarif Saibani said the department received a distress call at about 6.15pm yesterday before they despatched a team of personnel for the search and rescue operation.
The search areas have been expanded until Sungai Kuyoh, Sungai Kerayong, The Mines lake and Sungai Raya Permai.
