Man survives shooting at Penang coffeeshop

GEORGE TOWN: A 30-year-old man cheated death after he was shot by an unidentified assailant while having dinner with few of his friends at a coffeeshop in Jalan Paya Terubong here today.
Northeast district police chief ACP Mior Faridalatrash Wahid said the victim sustained injuries on his buttock and waistline after two out of the five shots hit him during 9.40pm incident.
He said the suspect has since fled from the scene and police have since identified the assailant and were searching for him.
He said investigators also found few bullet shells when combing the scene, adding that the victim been rushed to Penang Hospital for treatment.
He said the suspect had an argument with the victim a day before the incident took place
"The case is being investigated for attempted murder under Penal Code," he told reporters when met at the scene.
