Gerakan calls for comprehensive report on e-cig liquids

PETALING JAYA: Gerakan today called on the Health Ministry to conduct a comprehensive report soon on e-cigarette liquids that contain nicotine.
Gerakan complaints bureau chairman Wilson Lau said if researchers could prove that vaping is healthier or causes less harm to the body than smoking, then smokers could switch to vaping.
However, he added, if the research reveals that vaping is equally or more harmful than smoking, then the government should ban it.
"In fact, vaping or the sale of e-cigarette liquids should be banned if it poses health hazards," he told reporters at the Malaysia Inflatable Challenge at Tesco, Mutiara Damansara.
Wilson also said that vaping and religion should be kept separate as the whole issue is about the health of the people.
Meanwhile, the Malaysia Inflatable Challenge went into the Malaysia Book of Records with the participation of 30,000 people aged above 13, in 18 stations nationwide.
The aim of the 15-obstacle challenge, from Dec 6 to Dec 13, is to encourage members of the public to bond closer ties with family and friends.
