GCH Retail to upgrade Giant hypermarkets

    SHAH ALAM: GCH Retail (M) Sdn Bhd aims to upgrade its 28 Giant hypermarket outlets nationwide by early next year.
    Its operation director, Ernest Potgieter, said among outlets that would be upgraded were in Petra Jaya (Sarawak); Penang Plaza (Penang) and Star Avenue Mall (Sungai Buloh, Selangor).
    "We aim to refurbish 28 stores with new layout that emphasises customer comfort to ensure a hassle-free shopping environment.
    "The transformation aims at providing a better customer-friendly atmosphere," he told reporters after the relaunch of the Shah Alam Giant hypermarket in Section 13 here yesterday.
    Shah Alam Giant hypermarket was the first branch to be upgraded.
    GCH Retail also announced a special 'Relaunch Promotion' from yesterday until Jan 5 in conjunction with the relaunch of the Shah Alam outlet.
    During the two-week promotion, several products and brands would be offered at special marked down and discounted prices.
    Potgieter said the company also planned to open four new Giant Hypermarket oulets by mid-2016.
    He said the outlets would be located in Jertih (Terengganu); Setapak (Kuala Lumpur); Kangar (Perlis); and, Kota Bharu (Kelantan).
    "GCH currently operates 147 stores nationwide with another four stores to be opened by mid-2016.
    "GCH employs over 10,000 employees and intends to maintain its leadership position with a steady growth," Potgieter said.
    GCH Retail has four retail banners – Giant, Cold Storage Supermarkets, Mercato and Jasons Food Hall. – Bernama
