Capt Hasman's body flown to New York today

    KUALA LUMPUR: The body of Captain Hasman Hussin, who died in a flood in Missouri, USA, was flown to New York today.
    The Army Headquarters in a statement said efforts to bring home the remains of the late captain was underway after the completion of paperwork and other formalities at the morgue in Waynesville, Fort Leonard Wood at 11am yesterday morning.
    He said the body was flown to New York on a commercial flight from the Lambert St Louis International Airport in Missouri at 9.10am this morning.
    According to the statement, the flight from New York to Malaysia was being arranged, and his remains would be escorted by Assistant Defence Attache in Washington DC, Lt Col Mohd Hafizar Md Idris from Fort Leonard Wood to Kuala Lumpur.
    The details of the flight from New York to Malaysia would be notified upon confirmation obtained by the Army, it said.
    Hasman, who was attending a course at Fort Leonard Wood since Oct 1, was reported missing after the vehicle he was travelling in with four college mates was washed away by floodwaters in Missouri. – Bernama
