Four locals held for possession of handmade rifles and drugs

    LABUAN: Labuan Police have arrested four locals, including a woman, in possession of hand-made rifles and for drug trafficking on Saturday.

    The locals aged between 30's to 40's were detained with three rifles and marble bullets and 6.53g of syabu at about 3pm along Jalan Tanjung Kubong.
    Labuan deputy police chief, DSP Mohd Ibrahim Mohd Ghani said all the suspects were being remanded for four days except the woman, who was remanded for three days under Section 8 of the Arms Act 1960 and Section 39 A (1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

    "It was during a routine patrol by two police Mobile Patrol Vehicle (MPV) around the Kg Tanjung Kubong, when a four wheel drive vehicle Toyota Land Cruiser, parked by the roadside was spotted in a suspicious manner.

    "Upon a body check, our policemen found an aluminium can containing 37 plastic straws with crystal-like substance and believed to be syabu in one of the suspects' trouser pocket, and on a further check, we also found the two rifles inside the vehicle, while another one was found in a nearby drain thrown by another suspect," he said.

    Ibrahim also confirmed all of them tested positive for syabu. – Bernama
