IPOH: Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir has urged developers of new housing areas to build wide roads to avoid traffic congestion.
"Traffic congestion is a new problem for Ipoh during the weekends and school holidays," he told reporters after officiating at the ground-breaking of the Mh Pinnacle project here yesterday.
He said housing developers can discuss with the Ipoh City Council before starting their projects to find the best approach to solve traffic congestion.
"For new development on the edge of the highway, we urge the developers to construct a ramp, thus bypassing the city centre."
Zambry said a special committee has been set up to study the issue, with Ipoh mayor Datuk Zamri Man and Ipoh police chief ACP Sum Chang Keong among the members.
Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd (KTMB) had discussed with the state government on the possibility of providing a city service for Ipoh residents. — Bernama
