Penang proud to be showcased in local production

    GEORGE TOWN: Penang state government is proud to have a local production of You Mean the World to Me film to be showcased in the state.
    Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said the state was chosen to do the filming due to its historical, heritage and emotional values during 1970s.
    He noted that even film production companies from overseas such as China, Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore including European drama of top Indian Summers were filmed in the state.
    "When all these foreign film companies do their shooting in Penang, why not our local production," he said after visiting the Majestic cinema in Jalan Phee Choon.
    He added it is time for local productions to showcase the heritage core value.
    Also present were the film director and scriptwriter Saw Teong Hin and the cinema's owner Jonathan Foo.
    Saw also expressed his grateful to the state and Foo for able to assist the production to ensure the filming is carried out smoothly.
    The shooting for the movie begun last week and would last for about three weeks.
    Also known as Hai Ki Xin Lor, the movie is led by actress Chelsia Ng, Alor Star-born John Tan and several leading casts.
