Seberang Jaya residents celebrate Ponggal

SEBERANG JAYA: More than 30 people from all walks of life woke up early this morning to celebrate Ponggal at the constituency.
Mainly comprising of Tamil people, they dressed up in their usual traditional outfits to celebrate the festival at the end of the harvest season.
Organised by Seberang Jaya constituency service centre and the cooperation from JKKK, it aimed to foster a closer relationship among the people.
Also present was Seberang Jaya assemblyman Dr. Afif Bahardin.
The festival was celebrated by boiling sweet rice with fresh milk in a clay pot until it overflew to signify prosperity.
Participants also offered their prayers for a good harvest.
