KAJANG: The Selangor government will not sell its land to any influential people.
Saying this, its Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali said, his principle of governance would be based on social justice.
"To implement justice, the land should not be owned by the leaders or his cronies as the land in Selangor is owned by the people.
"Thus no leaders, parliamentarian, assemblymen or state exco will be granted the land," Azmin said before handing over lot ownership titles to eight people at Masjid Kg Dato Abu Bakar Baginda here.
He said he is saddened by the fact that there are still families who do not have proper houses with proper documents to stay.
Azmin added that the state government is in the midst of settling land ownership problems.
"We have gained our independence for almost 60 years but there are still people who do not have a comfortable house for their families to live in. That is why the state government is trying to resolve land ownership problems for those who have been staying on lands for almost 40 years,"Azmin said.
He also called on the people to preserve government land as it belongs to them and the state government's responsibility is to manage it as land is precious and the best economic resource in any state.
"Those who are given the land must also learn to preserve it," he added.
Meanwhile on PAS planning to field its candidates in seats where DAP or Amanah is contesting in the next General Elections, Azmin said that he wants the opposition to focus on a straight fight with Barisan Nasional.
"We will negotiate on this when the time comes." said Azmin, adding that right now his focus is to develop Selangor and provide services that will benefit the people.
