KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested six individuals allegedly connected to the Anti-Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPPA) demonstration after they were found damaging public property in the vicinity of the city centre today.
Dang Wangi police chief ACP Zainol Samah told a press conference that the six men were arrested at several locations including Jalan Petaling, Jalan Melayu and Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman, here.
In the 4am incident, Zainol said the suspects were caught red handed while they were busy drawing graffiti on public property.
"They were nabbed while they were drawing the anarchy symbol on public property," Zainol said, adding that police are in the midst of identifying other group members who are still at large.
Zainol also advised the Anti-TPPA organiser to hold the demonstration at Padang Merbok in Kuala Lumpur tomorrow.
According to Zainol, the Kuala Lumpur City Council has given the green light for the group to hold their demonstration at Padang Merbok.
"I urged them to be at Padang Merbok, instead of Dataran Merdeka tomorrow.
"We will take stern action if they violate the law and do not follow our advice. We will arrest them," Zainol said.
He added that on Jan 12, police received an application from the organiser to hold the demonstration at Dataran Merdeka, following which police advised them to change the venue to Padang Merbok.
