Katibah Nusantara duo identified

    KUALA LUMPUR: Police said the they have identified two individuals who claimed to be part of the Islamic State's Malay-Speaking wing Katibah Nusantara.
    Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said the investigation on the militants who threatened retaliation following clampdown on its members was ongoing.
    "We have identified the duo. They went to Syria about a year ago.
    "One of them is from Kedah and the other one is from Perak. Let the police handle it for now," he told reporters on the sidelines of the International Conference on Deradicalisation and Violent Extremism here today.
    When asked is he worried with the recent militants arrest and threats, Khalid said,"Of course I am worried but you can't just be worried and you have to take the necessary measures to stop it from happening."
    On the implementation of Regional Digital Counter-Messaging Communication Centre which was also suggested by the Prime
    Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak earlier, Khalid stressed it will be implemented soon.
    "We will look into certain aspects of the communication centre, God willing, we will kick off with it soon," he said.
    Meanwhile Bukit Aman Special Branch director Commissioner Datuk Seri Mohamad Fuzi Harun said police will not back down to the threats made by the Katibah Nusantara.
    He said the militants were attempting to instil fear in the public.
