KUALA LUMPUR: KB Group (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd is in active talks for a 20-acre site in Pahang as part of its plans to expand its business in the hotels and resorts segment, said its group managing director Datuk Roslan Khalid.
“Our group is not only focusing on these two projects (Ramada Lumut Resort and Ipoh Hotel & Convention Centre) but in the coming years, we will be looking at more hotels and resorts. That’s how we are going to position ourselves,” he told reporters at a signing ceremony with hotelier Wyndham Worldwide yesterday.
Roslan said it will be the home of a five-star boutique hotel with 120 rooms. The land is located between Pekan and Kuala Rompin.
He said the hotel will be kept for recurring income and work on the hotel is expected to start next year.
Yesterday, the developer signed a franchise agreement with Wyndham Worldwide, a hotel management services provider, for Ramada Lumut Resort in Perak.
Touted as the first four-star hotel in Perak, the 4.7-acre project is KB Group’s maiden luxury investment project with a gross development value of RM455 million.
Roslan said there are plans to expand the resort into an integrated development and details of the master plan are being discussed.
The project will be funded via internal funds (RM10 million) and bridging finance from Maybank (RM37 million).
