JOHOR BARU: An enforcement team from the Johor Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry raided two stalls at a night market here and seized 82 fake jerseys of the Johor Darul Ta'zim football club.
State Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry deputy director Mokhtar Yeop said the raid at 11pm on Monday follows a week of surveillance by the agency on stalls at the Bazar Karat night market.
He said no arrest was made, as it was a compoundable offence.
The total street value of the seized items was estimated at RM6,000.
"The number of outlets selling fakes are currently under surveillance and it would be advisable for these operators to stop such businesses before action is taken on them," Mokhtar said today.
JDTTV Media head of production Raja Fouzeel Akmal Raja Zainal said the price of official jerseys range between RM100 and RM200 at 45 authorised outlets in the state.
He said the imitations were sold between RM50 and RM100.
"The fakes sold are normal grade and by paying a bit more, consumers would get authentic material and quality merchandise," he said at a press conference today.
