Crisis is over, we need to move on: New Kedah MB

ALOR STAR: Criticism of new Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah purportedly falling asleep is like water off the back of a duck.
He said he did not care about the matter and that his focus was on performing his duties.
He said such talk was political attacks and there was no need to make a person a laughing stock.
"Can't I even blink?," he said in his maiden press conference as MB today.
Videos and pictures of him allegedly asleep during the investiture ceremony earlier this week have gone viral.
His ascension to head the Kedah state government comes after two weeks of political turmoil when Umno divisions state-wide claimed they have lost their confidence in Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir, the previous MB.
Ahmad Bashah also struck a conciliatory tone by saying he wanted to move forward from the crisis.
He said his was a heavy responsibility but can be made lighter with the cooperation of his party colleagues and the people.
He said policies initiated by the previous MB would continue if they benefited the state and the people.
"The crisis is over and resolved, we need to move on to be able to meet the demands of the people," he added.
Ahmad Bashah also thanked Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak for his trust in letting him helm the post.
He said he was confident of getting the support of the Federal Government to bring development to Kedah.
"I am confident he (Najib) can help Kedah develop," he said.
Ahmad Bashah however turned coy when questioned about his Exco line up.
He said there would be discussions on the matter and did not elaborate.
"I will look into it," he said when asked if he could work with supporters of Mukhriz.
Meanwhile Bandar Baru assemblyman Norsabrina Mohd Noor said the previous Exco should be retained.
The State Technology Committee chairman under the Mukhriz administration said maintaining the previous line up will help the state achieve its long term goals.
"I hope the new leadership can consider the matter," she said when approached by reporters after the state investiture ceremony in conjunction with the Sultan Kedah 88th birthday.
