1 dead, 5 injured in Bangkok apartment fire

BANGKOK: An unidentified woman died and five other people were injured in a fire that engulfed the top part of a 10-storey apartment building here today.
The fire occurred at 10.20am at the building located in densely-populated Narathiwat Ratchanakarin 18 in the Yannawa district of the capital, said Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department director-general Chatchai Promlert.
"The five injured, three men and two women, were rushed to a nearby hospital with undetermined injuries," he said ina a statement.
Firemen managed to control the fire from spreading about three hours later, he said.
The cause of the fire was still under investigation, said Chatchai. – Bernama
