PETALING JAYA: Former Wanita Umno chief Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz hit out at those who criticised her for voicing her opinions on current issues on social media.
In a Facebook posting on Saturday, Rafidah told the "head shakers" leaders that she will continue to voice her opinions as she cared for both Umno and the country.
"And here I am -a concerned citizen- like so many others, being practically asked to shut up by a 'head shaking' person who insists that we all must be loyal to leaders,"
"My my ... Please go on with the head shaking, because I am not stopping (to criticize)," she said.
Rafidah added loyalty should be given to the nation and Umno but not blindly to any individuals.
"Individuals are totally dispensable ... after all, individuals do die,"
"Individuals do come and go, but the party and the nation cannot be compromised," she said.
Recently, Wanita Umno chief Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil had said she was puzzled by Rafidah's recent Facebook posts on the country's political situation.
Shahrizat had said Rafidah had always preached about discipline and loyalty to Umno and its leadership when she helmed the women's wing, but now appeared to have compromised on that principle.
Rafidah however stressed her loyalty to Umno and would 'die as the party's member'.
"The party was de-registered in 1987 as a result of a power struggle, the head shakers must have forgotten that black mark in the party's history,"
"There are already cracks in the party and continued unhappiness among Malaysians, no one should ask for support for leaders as individuals," she said.
Rafidah also reminded the leaders that they are currently at the world's focal point and they should stop being in denial and stop playing factional politics.
"The world is looking at our Malaysian leaders and making their own conclusions.
"Stop being like ostriches with heads in the sand, listen to what is actually happening on the ground and not feel good stories, especially from those with vested interests," she said.
