High-powered motorcycle rider dies in collision with car

    KANGAR: A 51-year-old man was killed after the high-powered motorcycle he was riding collided with a car along Jalan Ulu Pauh-Padang Besar in Chuping yesterday, police said today.

    Padang Besar Traffic Police chief ASP Shamsudin Ali said Azizan Darus, who was from Bayan Lepas, Penang, died on the spot in the collision which occurred at 7.16pm.

    He said Azizan had been riding from the direction of Padang Besar and was said to have overtaken a vehicle but collided with a Nissan Almera car going in the opposite direction.

    Azizan was thrown off his motorcycle which caught fire, he said when contacted.

    His body was sent to the Tuanku Fauziah Hospital, and would be taken to his home in Desa Bayan, Bayan Lepas, today, he added.

    Shamsudin said the 32-year-old driver of the car, who was from Alor Star, was not injured. – Bernama
