Grand CNY celebration at Resorts World Genting

KUALA LUMPUR: More than 200,000 visitors joined in the revelry at Resorts World Genting to usher in the Year of the Monkey.
The festivities kicked off on the eve of Chinese New Year as guests were treated to a grand reunion dinner before heading to Hong Kong singer Hacken Lee's concert at the Arena of Stars at 10pm.
Fans were also entertained by guest artistes Chan Pik-sum and Wong Ho Pong who wowed the audience with a blend of traditional and modern tunes.
The concert ended with a countdown to welcome the Lunar New Year.
The celebrations continued on the second day with the appearance of Monkey Gods, fairies, the Prosperity God and comic book character Old Master Q who mingled with visitors around the resort and distributed Ang Pow packets.
Genting Malaysia Berhad Chairman Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay and Genting Resorts World president Datuk Sri Lee Choong Yan were also present as guests of honour.
Numerous events have also been lined up at the Chin Swee temple.
Visitors will be able to obtain blessings from Venerable Zhang Yong from Feb 8 to 14. The sessions will be held from 10am to noon and from 2.30pm to 4.30pm.
Guests can enjoy the Chinese New Year carnival with stalls offering local and Chinese products, lion dance and cultural shows, Feng Shui readings and other exciting activities. The carnival will be held daily from 10am to 8pm until Feb 14.
During the carnival period, visitors can take the free shuttle bus service, which operates from 9am to 9pm. The bus departs the First World Hotel Lobby and Maxims Hotel Lobby every 30 minutes.
