Ahmad Bashah is new Kedah Umno Liaison Committee chairman

KUALA LUMPUR: Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah was today appointed the new chairman of the Kedah Umno Liaison Committee, replacing Datuk Seri Mukhriz Tun Dr Mahathir.
The appointment was announced by Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor in a statement.
Tengku Adnan also said that Education Minister and Padang Terap MP Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid had been appointed deputy chairman of the committee, also effective today.
Ahmad Bashah previously had been the deputy chairman.
Muhkriz, who resigned as the Kedah mentri besar on Feb 3, had said that he would leave it to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak to determine his position as the chairman of the committee.
Ahmad Bashah was sworn in as the new mentri besar on Feb 4. — Bernama
