KPDNKK: Man your stations or face action

KUALA LUMPUR: Action will be taken against traders operating at Masjid India but are not present at their business premises in person.
Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism (KPDNKK) Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin today said the move was necessary to ensure the owners are actually running the business at their respective outlets.
He commented on the matter after conducting a walkabout there with his officers and the media.
"I noticed that the operators weren't there except for their workers. The operators must also ensure their business licenses are displayed.
"We will give them a chance for now, but, next week, if this isn't done, they'll be fined," he said in a news conference held at the Sogo shopping mall.
He also warned the traders to show working permits for their foreign employees to the authorities at Masjid India's shopping outlets.
"They must show their permits. This is also to correct the public's perception that there is a law (to protect them as consumers)," he added.
Hamzah also confirmed that the ministry will implement the Single Price Policy (SPP) within the year.
The issue has been discussed with the stakeholders such as hoteliers and those in the private sector since last year but there were "obstacles" from implementing it.
He added a guideline on the SPP will be included once the ministry has announced it, he said, responding to a press inquiry on the matter that was reported in The Star today.
