S'gor govt to host CNY open house on Feb 20

SHAH ALAM: Selangor state government will host a Chinese New Year open house at Dataran Petaling Jaya (Jalan Timur) on Feb 20.
State exco member Datuk Teng Chang Khim said some 10,000 people are expected to attend the event, which will start from 8pm to 11pm.
"The focus of the festival is the 90 minute cultural performances comprising among others dances, musical performances and wayang kulit," he said at a press conference held at Selangor State Investment Corporation here today also attended by Selangor State Investment Corporation CEO Hasan Azhari Idris.
He said some 5,500 parking lots have been allocated free of charge for those coming for the open house.
"Vehicle owners can also park in public parking lots in front of Amcorp Mall MPAJ or the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) car park (complex A and C). However, we encourage people to use public transportation as they can stop at Taman Jaya LRT station and walk to the venue," he added.
Teng added MBPJ has also prepared a shuttle bus service to ferry people around the Petaling Jaya loop area.
The Chinese New Year open house is not only to celebrate the festival but also to foster closer rapport among all races.
