Two hired killers shot dead by Sibu police (Updated)

KUALA LUMPUR: Police from the Sarawak Criminal Investigation Department shot dead two hired killers in a shootout in Sibu, today.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said following the shooting, police managed to solve at least seven murder cases and assassination attempts in the state.

"Well done Sarawak @PDRMsia in an exchange of fire in Sibu, shot dead two hired killers, solving seven murder cases/attempted murders. #GoPDRMGo," Khalid said in his official Twitter page today.
According to police in SIBU, the cases involving Beti Joshua Chong, 44, from Sri Aman and his friend Awie Ningan, 36, from Saratok, are as follows:
Jan 11, 2012 - At about 11.15am, a Chinese man was shot dead with a shotgun at Jalan Brooke Drive, Sibu, by suspects who were in a Proton Saga.
July 12, 2012 - About 11am, a Chinese man died and another was injured after being shot with a shotgun in front of a coffeeshop in Jalan Lapangan Terbang Kuching, by suspects who were on a motorcycle.
Nov 3, 2012 - At approximately noon, a Chinese woman was shot dead with a shotgun in front of a cafe on Jalan Pahlawan, Sibu, by suspects in a Proton Saga.
Aug 3, 2013 - At about 10pm, a Chinese man was shot dead with a shotgun in front of a coffeeshop in Penampang, Sabah by suspects in a Perodua Myvi.
Sep 18, 2014 - At approximately noon a Chinese man was wounded after being shot with a shotgun in front of a cafe on Jalan Pahlawan, Sibu by suspects on board a Proton Wira.
July 3, 2015 - At about 9.40pm, a Chinese man was shot dead with a shotgun at a restaurant in Bintulu, by suspects on board a Perodua Myvi.
Jan 9, 2016 - A Chinese man was killed, and his girlfriend injured, after being shot with a shotgun in front of a restaurant in Jalan Long Bridge, Sibu, at 11.25 pm, by suspects on board a four-wheel drive Nissan Navara. – Bernama
