Expect water supply disruptions

    KUALA LUMPUR: Several areas in Hulu Langat, Kuala Lumpur and Petaling experienced water supply disruption from 10am following the temporary shutdown of the Sungai Langat Water Treatment Plant due to contamination in Sungai Langat.
    Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Syabas) in a statement said Sungai Langat was being closely monitored, and the water treatment plant would be operational again as soon as the water contamination in the river subsides.
    "As many as 107 areas in Kuala Lumpur are affected including Taman Cheras Utama, Bandar Tun Razak, Taman Seputeh, KL Sentral and Jalan Sungai Besi.
    "While among the 162 affected areas in Hulu Langat are Taman Titiwangsa, Mutiara Jaya, Saujana Impian, Setia Impian, Taman Kajang Perdana, Taman Bangi, Nilam Commercial Area, Taman Tasik Semenyih and Taman Manikavasagam," the statement said.
    Among the affected areas in Petaling are the Police Housing area Taman Desa Talek Sungai Besi, Masjid Al Muqarrobin Desa Tasek, Sekolah Menengah and Sekolah Rendah Desa Tasek, Desa Tasek Public Housing Project and Midfiled Condominium Jalan Sungai Besi.
    Syabas said to minimise inconvenience to consumers, water supply has been delivered by tankers to the affected areas.
