PETALING JAYA: Following the recent hoo-ha over the arrest of a couple hacking into the Touch N Go (TnG) system, TnG Sdn Bhd assured that there is no risk of the incident affecting other cards.
In a statement today, its chief executive officer Syahrunizam Samsudin said the case is an isolated one and of rare occurrence.
"We urge all TnG customers to continue using their cards in the same safe and convenient manner.
"We are giving this assurance based on the investments that we have made in terms of our card technology, processes and fraud detection mechanisms which have equipped us with the tools to deal with such fraudulent transactions," Syahrunizam told theSun.
Syahrunizam added in all stored-value cards and payment systems, there are some irresponsible individuals who will attempt to abuse, manipulate or tamper with technology in order to cheat or to commit fraud due to evolving technology.
"As such, we are constantly maintaining our system with the latest technology," he said.
He advised the public to only purchase their TnG cards from authorised dealers or merchants.
On Monday, a couple in their 40s were arrested after they were allegedly involved in the hacking of Touch 'n Go prepaid cards at their home in Kota Damansara.
Investigations showed that the couple downloaded an application into the laptop and transferred the application into a mobile phone which was running on the Android system.
After downloading the application, they will hack the TnG card's code with a maximum value of RM1,500 for each transaction illegally without the permission from Touch 'n Go Sdn Bhd.
