Teenager drowns at waterfall after receiving SPM results

    BESUT: A teenager who had just obtained his Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) 2015 examination results, drowned while enjoying an outing with friends at the Lata Tembakah waterfall area in Hulu Besut, here, about 4.30pm yesterday.
    The victim was identified as Chork Chai Eh Di, 18, from Kampung Sedar, Tumpat and a student of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Tumpat.
    Besut district police chief, Supt Khaled Che Lah said the victim had gone to the waterfall area with four friends for a dip after obtaining his SPM 2015 results, which were out yesterday.
    He said while walking on a huge rock, the victim slipped and fell into a deep part of the waterfall area.
    "His friends shouted for help to members of the public who were at the location and they managed to bring the victim out of the water.
    "Unfortunately, the victim was already lifeless and his body was then sent to Besut District Hospital for a post-mortem before being claimed by his family," Khaled said. — Bernama
