NUTP urges Education Ministry to improve on i-THINK programme

KOTA BARU: The National Union of Teaching Profession has urged the education ministry to temporarily suspend the i-THINK programme after its implementation faced various constraints, including poor internet access.
Its president, Hashim Adnan said the suspension period was also to allow the the party concerned to further enhance the system as there was much to be improved.
"We are fully aware that this programme serves to produce more innovative students and teachers but the system is still inadequate in facilitating teachers' task in entering student details.
"There were cases of teachers having to re-enter information after completing 19 of the i-THINK 26 series because of lost data due to weaknesses in the system's programme," he told reporters after closing the 2014-2017 NUTP Mid-Term Review Programme here today.
The i-THINK programme introduced in 10 schools in January 2012, as part of a pilot programme initiated by the ministry and Malaysian Innovation Agency was later extended to all schools, two years later.
The programme was aimed at enhancing and developing thinking skills in an effort to produce innovative students. — Bernama
