Dengue cases drop by 12.1% in week 11

    KUALA LUMPUR: Dengue fever cases nationwide from March 13 to 19 dropped by 309 cases or 12.1%.

    Director-General of Health, Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said 2,247 dengue fever cases were reported during the week compared to 2,556 cases in the previous week.
    Five states showed an increase in cases, led by Perak with 16, Sabah (13), Kelantan (5) while Perlis and Kedah have one case each.

    The cumulative dengue cases showed a 6.6% rise to 32,925 cases compared to 30,890 cases for the corresponding period in 2015.

    Noor Hisham said week 11 reported seven deaths, including two cases in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Johor, as well as one case in Perak.

    "From January until March 19, 2016, there is a 16.3% drop or 16 deaths, bringing the total cumulative deaths to 82 compared to 98 deaths for the corresponding period in 2015," he added. — Bernama
