GEORGE TOWN: Businesswoman Phang Li Koon was grilled by cops for nearly four hours at the Northeast district police headquarters today over her statutory declaration (SD) on the sale of her bungalow to Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng.
Reporters and photographers had gathered as early as 8.30am in front of the building in Jalan Patani here for Phang to arrive.
It is learnt that Phang arrived with her lawyer at about 9.30am and left at 1.10pm.
Northeast district police chief ACP Mior Faridalatrash Wahid confirmed that Phang had her statement recorded in reply to a text message.
Several police reports have been lodged against Phang by Barisan Nasional members and non-governmental organisations who alleged that information in her SD was inaccurate.
Phang had sold the house to Lim for RM2.8 million which prompted criticisms from certain quarters that it was sold below market value.
The state Umno Youth wing have also lodged a police report urging police to investigate the connection between Penang Island Municipal Council (MPPP) councillor Tan Chiew Choon and Phang.
State Umno Youth vice-chief Jasmin Noordin called police to probe the link between Tan who is a senior manager of a firm, and Phang who allegedly owns shares in the company.
