IPOH: Despite the current economic slowdown, a total of 3,653 jobs in sectors ranging from administration to engineering are up for grabs at a career fair organised by the Industrial Training Institute.
Bukit Chandan assemblyman Maslin Sham Razman who officiated at the one day event at the institute's premises on Tuesday, said a total of 40 companies, including those from other states, participated in the career fair.
There are vacancies for clerks, managers, security guards, technical and engineering employees, manufacturing workers and hotel and resort staff.
The fair was thronged by hundreds of job seekers and those seeking to register themselves for the courses on offer. Recruiters also conducted on the spot interviews for applicants.
"This is another effort to ensure Perakians will stay put in the state and prevent the migration of job seekers.
"Workers are needed based on the feedback from companies," he said.
The carnival was organised in collaboration with the Labour Department and Pusat Kerjaya Amanjaya Perak (PEKA).
