PETALING JAYA: Perodua is exporting 310 units of its Myvi 1.5SE and Alza 1.5SE models to Brunei this year as part of its efforts to improve its export portfolio.
“This is a major step forward for Perodua to strengthen our brand presence in the region as we strive to become a player in Asean auto market in the years to come,” its president and CEO Datuk Aminar Rashid Salleh said in a statement yesterday.
“Both the Myvi 1.5SE and the Alza 1.5SE made a debut at the Brunei Motoring BN – Auto Show 2016 here today and their on-the-road price will be unveiled at our showroom,” GHK Motors Sdn Bhd managing director Pehin Kapitan Lela Diraja Dato Paduka Goh King Chin said.
GHK Motors is one of Perodua’s distributors in Brunei. Perodua began exporting to Brunei in 1996 with the Perodua Kancil and has exported a total of 2,300 vehicles to the country as of end-2015.
“We believe that there is demand for these models in this country as the acceptance of compact vehicles is gradually growing,” said Aminar Rashid.
Perodua exports to five countries – Singapore, Mauritius, Brunei, Sri Lanka and Fiji. The compact carmaker exports the Myvi to Indonesia as the Daihatsu Sirion.
