High-speed rail MOU to be signed with Singapore by mid-2016

KUALA LUMPUR: The memorandum of understanding (MOU) on the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High Speed Rail (HSR) will be signed by middle of this year, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak said.
"The HSR link to Singapore, we expect to sign MOU middle of this year with Singapore," he said in his keynote address at Invest Malaysia 2016 today.
He said the HSR, along with the Pan Borneo Highway, Mass Rapid Transit (MRT), Light Rail Transit (LRT) and Pengerang development in Johor, are projects under the 11th Malaysia Plan that will continue despite the reduction in government expenditure.
"They're all still going ahead. We need them. They are not grandiose mega-projects for show and vanity, as favoured by some. No, these are a part of our future," he added.
