Prophetic last words of 2 friends who drowned in Flores, Indonesia

SEPANG: "Do not have too much fun, God can take it away in a blink of an eye."
These were the last words of the two Malaysians who drowned in the Cunca Wulang waterfall picnic area in Mibeliling district in Flores, Indonesia on Sunday.
Mohamad Imran Helmy Had, 24, said although there were no obvious changes in behaviour of his friends, Mohamad Azfar Tahir and Mohammad Ezzaq Azumi before the fateful incident, he would always remember the words they had said.
He said the three of them, together with two others at the scene of the incident had been close friends since primary school days, travelling together and pursuing common activities.
"Swimming in the waterfall was to have been our last outing before returning to Malaysia after a week's stay in Indonesia, and I did not expect that the words they uttered in jest would be their last," he told reporters soon after arriving at the KLIA 2 here late yesterday from Denpasar.
With him were his two friends, Mohamad Qayyum Pirdous and Muhammad Nurhafiz Bor Adzmi, both 23.
Besides Mohamad Azfar, 23, from Kuala Lumpur and Mohammad Ezzaq, 23, from Kelantan, a Flores resident who was believed to have been their guide, Wenseslaus Hendro Akung, 39, also drowned in the incident.
Reflecting on the tragedy, Mohamad Imran said they had checked the water level and conditions at the waterfall before deciding to bathe there.
The depth of the water was between five to seven metres, and at the time of the incident at 11.30am, the water was calm.
Mohamad Imran said Mohamad Azfar was the fourth person to dive into the water and as soon as he did, he drowned. Mohammad Ezzaq and Hendro followed suit, only to drown, as well.
"I could only scream for help but at that time, there were not many people there," he said, adding that he did not jump into the water as he did not know how to swim.
Earlier, the remains of Mohammad Ezzaq and Mohamad Azfar arrived at the KLIA Cargo Complex here at 7.05pm.
Mohammad Ezzaq's body was taken to the Al-Khairiah Mosque in Taman Sri Gombak for funeral rites before he was buried at the Muslim cemetery in Taman Bukit Pertama, Gombak.
Meanwhile, Mohamad Azfar's remains were taken to his family home in Kampung Padang Balang, Sentul for burial at the Taman Batu Muda cemetery tomorrow. — Bernama
