eBooks for KLIA passengers

SEPANG: A total of of 800 eBook titles from various genres in English, Malay and Mandarin have been made available for passengers in Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).
Malaysia Airports (Sepang) general manager Zainol Mohd Isa said the eBook library facility operates through the use of Bluetooth beacon signals which works on principles of geo-fencing micro-location technology that communicates with the passenger's smartphone application, allowing them to access a special virtual library of eBooks.
"The eBooks can be downloaded for free at KLIA and subsequently kept in private devices including smart phones for a period of two days and automatically self delete after the expiry.
"Once the eBook has been downloaded, passengers are able to read the eBook even without internet facilities, meaning they will be able to read it during waiting time or even during flights," Zainol said, adding that the eBook beacon infrastructure was first demonstrated in conjunction with World Book Days 2016 in klia2, on Saturday.
