BMW to assemble BMW X1 and X4 locally

    CYBERJAYA: BMW Group Malaysia today announced that it will start assembling two new models, namely BMW X1 and BMW X4, locally.
    This will bring the portfolio of vehicles assembled in Malaysia to a total of 10, for the premium marque.
    "The new locally assembled BMW X1 and BMW X4 are a further testament to our longstanding investment and commitment to Malaysia as a strategic hub for the BMW Group in the Southeast Asian region," BMW Malaysia managing director and CEO Han Sang Yun told reporters here.
    Currently, BMW's assembly plant in Kulim puts together over 20 variants of BMW and MINI vehicles.
    BMW also announced the reduction of prices of up to 9% for BMW 3 Series GT, BMW X3 and BMW 5 Series, after securing the grant under the customised energy efficient vehicle (EEV) status incentives.
    Earlier this year, BMW revised downward the pricing pf its BMW 1 and BMW 3 series by up to 8%.
