RM1.3m allocated to continue development in Nangka: Dr Annuar

SIBU: Voters in Nangka can expect continued benefits and development as planned if a Barisan Nasional candidate continues to serve the people after the 11th Sarawak election.
Incumbent Dr Annuar Rapa'ee who will be defending the Nangka state assembly seat said RM1.3 million had been allocated for infrastructure development, including a Surau, quarters and a new cemetery that he had proposed.
Dr Annuar, a cardiologist who will face PKR's Abdul Rafidin Majidi, 33 and Tiong Ing Tung, 48, from STAR in a three-cornered fight in the May 7 election, when met at Kampung Datu and Kampung Hilir while on his house-to-house campaign said apart from infrastructure, issues like housing, land and education would be his main areas of focus.
"My other priority will be to assist youths and young entrepreneurs in business. Also on my wish list is to improve the household income of the people in Nangka," he said.
Dr Annuar said the government had also allocated 160 hectares for new settlement to overcome housing problems faced by families in the area.
Senior voter Wasil Morni, 88, said Dr Annuar had done a great deal for the people in the constituency by setting up new settlements in 2013 for fire victims in Kampung Melayu, the oldest village here.
"He (Dr Annuar) has also assisted in improving the economic status of the Malays here," said Wasil.
Trader Amar Mohd Faruk, 47, from Kampung Bandong near here said Dr Annuar had brought vast changes to the people, especially the small business community by setting up stalls for their business.
Amar said the people in the village, made up of mainly Malays/Melanau were facing a lack of space (land) for a proper cemetery and hoped their request would be fulfilled.
Nangka has 18,000 registered voters. — Bernama
